Unsolicited notices are being sent out to domain holders from a company named 'Domain Registry of Canada' asking people to transfer their domain to them for management. A copy of this notice is attached to this message.

The prices they are charging are significantly more expensive than the same services offered by TiVaHost.

Domain Registry of Canada is NOT a Government organization, and is in NO WAY affiliated with TiVaHost.

We do not recommend transferring your domain to this organization for several reasons, including:

 - The prices are significantly higher than what you would pay at TiVaHost.

 - They sent out unsolicited notices to domain holders without prior consent.

 - If you transfer your domain to Domain Registry of Canada you will no longer be able to manage your domain through the TiVaHost Client Area.

 - If you have technical problems with your domain TiVaHost will be unable to resolve the problem for you.

When you register for a domain name your personal contact info is automatically entered into a publicly searchable database called the WHOIS database. This allows anyone to search for the owner of a given domain name. This is how Domain Registry of Canada is able to get your name, address, and other contact information.

ICANN, an organization responsible for overseeing domain names on the internet, requires that you enter valid contact information when registering for a domain. If you provide incorrect information, and they become aware of this, you could lose the rights to your domain name, which is not a good thing to have happen.

There is a way to protect your identity, and prevent people from being able to find your contact information.

TiVaHost does offer a service called ID Protect, which hides your contact information in the WHOIS database in a way that conforms to the ICANN rules. This way your personal identity is protected and you will not receive unsolicited offers from companies such as Domain Registry of Canada. ID Protect is available for $15/year.

As always, if you have any questions about your products or services please feel free to contact TiVaHost at any time. We're happy to answer any questions you may have.

Regards,
TiVaHost
